KA Long

KA Long is an author, illustrator and teacher. He lives and works in Northern Virginia. He has a Masters in Special Education and has been teaching 2nd grade for over 15 years. During his own elementary years he was constantly frustrated and confused by the concepts his teachers tried to teach him. He now creates characters and stories to convey concepts to his students in class. When he is not creating books or teaching he likes to read, travel and bake.

The Beginning…

In the Spring of 2016 while at a lunch with a friend he has not seen in years he relayed that one of his goals in life was to write children’s books so that other teachers could use the stories he created for his own kiddos. His friend wanted to know why he hadn’t published a book yet - - he wasn’t exactly sure. While he had no training in digital art he had been recently given a drawing tablet and so he started to research and practice creating digital art. Less than a year later he self published Fuzzballs!: A Rounding Adventure. While he knows that he still has a great deal to learn when it comes to writing, illustrating, web design and promotion he is enjoying the journey.
